Test Day Explained
First things first, do not forget to bring along your documents which the examiner needs to see before stating the practical driving test. It never ceases to amaze us at just how many pupils forget the documentation and only realise when they arrive at the test centre. We advise the night before your test to have you provisional licence and your theory test pass paperwork ready. Secondly you’ll be asked to read aloud a number plate so if you wear glasses you MUST bring them with you also.
Immediately before your test you should have a 1.5 hour lesson with your driving instructor in Reigate to warm up and feel comfortable in the car. It also gives us the opportunity to go over those show me, tell me questions again, and if an issue are discovered (e.g. – a faulty bulb ) it gives us the time to put this right before your test. It’ll also helps to calm any last minute nerves you may have, and to go over any concerns that you may have (e.g. – to cover any of the manoeuvres or the emergency stop ).
Remember to bring along your test appointment letter, and some other form of photographic ID. This will be checked by us before we leave. First off, the examiner will ask you to sign a form and show your ID. Then they’ll ask you to point out the car you’ll be driving and read another car’s number plate from the required minimum distance. Then you will answer one ‘show me’ and one ‘tell me’ vehicle safety question. Both answers need to be correct, or one driving fault will be recorded.
